This is the Rankin/Bass animated version from 1977, not to be confused with the Peter Jackson trilogy from 2012.

A quiet Hobbit gentleman is persuaded by a wandering wizard to join a group of dwarves on a mad quest to steal their treasure back from a dragon. And the Hobbit is supposed to be the thief!
